INFLUX was born out of a bit of frustration, a touch of obsession, and a lot of optimism. We’re passionate about making libraries easy, engaging, and delightful.

aaron

I’m Aaron Schmidt. Sometimes I feel like the Andy Rooney of the library world.

In the morning: Coffee
#1 web pet peeve: Clutter!
First library job: Circ clerk

In addition to my work with INFLUX I work as the Digital Initiatives Librarian for the District of Columbia Public Library. Sometimes I miss talking with library patrons face-to-face on a daily basis but I usually get over this when I think about all the interacting I get to do by pushing pixels.

I also (sometimes) write stuff at walkingpaper where you can read my full professional bio if you really want to.

amanda

I’m Amanda Etches-Johnson. I talk with my hands a lot when I’m behind a podium.

In the morning: Tea
#1 web pet peeve: Flash
First library job: Database indexer

I consider myself pretty fortunate to get to do stuff I love, both as the Head, Discovery & Access at the University of Guelph Library, and as an adjunct faculty member at the Faculty of Information & Media Studies at The University of Western Ontario. And right here at INFLUX! Like I said, pretty fortunate.

You can also find me at blogwithoutalibrary.net. One day I’ll blog regularly again. Maybe.
